Zubi Rapperswil

Challenge
The design of the Zubi Store in Rapperswil was significantly influenced by the building’s structural constraints. With approximately 1,400 square meters of retail space spread over two floors, the challenge was to integrate numerous corners, columns, and storefront windows into a clear and functional layout. A particular challenge was to merge the ground floor and upper floor connected by a staircase into a consistent store concept, both in terms of design and functionality. In addition, different product categories such as shoes, sports, apparel, equipment, as well as consulting and service, had to be harmoniously integrated. Newly integrated areas such as bike sales, the bike workshop, and winter sports placed special demands on space planning and merchandise displays. A high degree of flexibility was required, particularly with regard to seasonal collection changes, the winter collection, and ski rentals.

Realization
The project was implemented holistically by a single provider: from design and planning through production to installation by Bohnacker. Following an initial meeting at EuroShop 2023 and a joint workshop, a store concept was developed that was simultaneously applied to the main branch in Herisau. The collaboration with the Zubi team was intensive, cooperative, and solution-oriented. Despite the complex structural conditions and the diverse product range requirements, the implementation proceeded in a structured and on-schedule manner. The store was completed on time and successfully opened on March 19, 2026.

Highlights
A key highlight of the store is the “Zubi Berg” in the heart of the sales floor. This eye-catching display, which includes a shoe-testing area, serves as the visual centerpiece of the store and brings the presentation of outdoor shoes to life. Furthermore, the store impresses with a cohesive overall concept that seamlessly integrates architecture, product presentation, and the brand’s identity. The flexible layout allows for the optimal display of changing product ranges from bike and sports gear to a large winter sports section during the winter months. The result is a modern, experience-oriented shopping environment that consistently combines expert advice, service, and product presentation.
